Alexa could hardly believe she was finally here. She took in her tropical surroundings. The ocean behind her with its soft breeze, sending ripples through the leaves of the palm trees, the chirping of birds they did not have back home, the white sand under her bare feet.

Wearing her bikini was too much. She undid the top and cast it aside. Alexa couldn’t remember the last time she had felt the hot sun on her breasts.

Being in a luxury resort certainly had its perks. She had been assured complete privacy. She really needed this holiday.

After starting her business in marketing three years ago, all she had done was work. The days were long. She was happy her business had taken off so well, but it did require sacrifices. Her personal life was one of those sacrifices she’d had to make. She saw little of her husband nowadays and even less of her friends.

To be completely honest, her marriage wasn’t what it had once been. Sure, they still had sex now and then, but it was usually rushed and without a lot of love, their romantic sex was diminishing. It was merely ticking the boxes and giving each other release when the need grew too high.

Alexa longed to rekindle the passion she had once had for her husband, Joel. She still loved him. He was smart, he was the kindest man she knew, and he had a body to die for. She really wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, but the way they were going now, she wasn’t sure that was going to happen. They argued, a lot, and there were no more cuddles and kisses during the week. Alexa was often busy with work, even during the off-hours, and would snap at him about nothing. She knew she was unreasonable, but it was a cycle that was hard to break. Joel too worked long days. She suspected he had stopped trying to approach her after she’d pushed him away one too many times.
