No Goodreads entry, which shouldn't come as a surprise, although you probably don't need one if you know anything about this author's other works. To be fair though, while it's pretty standard fare in terms of what boys allegedly do when they're being boys, he does add a couple of activities nor often encountered in books of this type.

Quote: The Woodpeckers Scout patrol, universally known as the Peckers (geddit?), go camping for a few days on land belonging to the parents of Algy, who in their absence has invited two friends down for a few days. Needless to say, much pairing-off takes place among the fighting (or should that be the other way round?), and new friendships are forged. Lessons are learnt that were never available when I was a Scout, but perhaps I was unlucky.
